The King of Navarre and his friends take an oath to dedicate themselves to a life of study and avoid the company of women for three years. No sooner have they made their idealistic pledge than the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting the men with a severe test of their high-minded resolve. Men and women test their own constitutions in this hilarious Shakespearean comedy that forces gentlemen in love to keep love – and food, and sleep – at arms’ length.
“Let us once lose our oaths to find ourselves,
Or else we lose ourselves to keep our oaths”
― William Shakespeare, Love's Labour's Lost
