Mixing Color!

Hands-On at Whitcomb’s Summer 2022: Mixing Color!

In this technical workshop, participants will learn the formal basics of color theory and explore color mixing with Guaoche paint. Guoache, French for ‘body color’, is a water-based paint, consisting of natural pigment, water and a binding agent.  It is designed to be opaque and often used in preliminary studies for oil painting.

Participants will bring in printed images that are meaningful to them and we will work together to create simplified but exact drawings and color replicas/inventories/studies of these images.  Collage may be introduced.  You are also welcome to bring in objects if you prefer to work from an object rather than an image.

There will be a demonstration in the beginning, an hour of mixing time and plenty of time to leave with a finished piece.  The goal here is to be able to go out into the landscape of your life with only a few colors and paint the exact colors that you see.

 Tuesday, June 14 from 6-8:30pm.
Adult class.  Middle School and High School students welcome with permission.  Please contact Susie at 845-443-0640
