Hands On at Whitcombs, Summer 2022: Poetry Writing

Four class series, Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm, July 5, 12, 19, and 26

Whether you are a seasoned veteran or someone brand-new to poetry, award-winning poet Christopher Locke will help take your work to the next level. Small, personalized classes meet once a week at Whitcomb’s, one of the most exciting new arts spaces to open in the Adirondacks. With Chris, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work, engage with others in the class, and receive thoughtful and encouraging feedback to help transform your writing. Limited enrollment allows close, individual attention in this safe, deeply supportive environment.

Ages: 16+

Class Fee: $150 for series.

Instructor: Christopher Locke was born in New Hampshire and received his MFA from Goddard College. His poems have appeared in numerous literary journals. He won the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Award, as well as grants in poetry from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. 25 Trumbulls Road, his first collection of fiction, won the Black River Chapbook Award. His new book of poems, Music For Ghosts (NYQ Books), was published in May 2022. His memoir, Without Saints (Black Lawrence Press), is out this October. Chris lives in Essex and teaches English and creative writing at SUNY Plattsburgh and North Country Community College.
