The Fall Lyceum presents a five-week series of conversations that will dig deep into topics of concern and significance for the region.

Willsboro resident Peter Paine, Jr., a legendary champion of the Adirondacks, and Diane Fish, former Deputy Director of the Adirondack Council, will talk about developing a commitment to place, the triumphs and challenges of protecting conservation lands and crafting state policies, and investing in community.

Peter Paine served as a member of the Temporary Study Commission on the Future of the Adirondacks and as a commissioner of the Adirondack Park Agency, in which capacity he was the principal draftsman of the Adirondack State Land Master Plan and New York State Wild Scenic and Recreational Rivers Legislation. He is trustee and former chair of the Adirondack Nature Conservancy, and a trustee of the Adirondack Land Trust.

He has played a key role in numerous land conservation projects in the Champlain Valley, including the preservation of the Four Brothers Islands as a bird sanctuary, the addition of the Split Rock Mountain Range to the Adirondack Forest Preserve, and the creation of Noblewood Park and the Coon Mountain Preserve.

Diane Fish was the Deputy Director of the Adirondack Council. In her twenty years at the Council, the organization doubled in size, expanded its reach and influence, and protected tens of thousands of acres of new wildlands. Diane is also an avid outdoor adventurer.
