Barry Goldstein will talk about his experiences covering New York on 9/11, post-Katrina New Orleans, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, national politics, and his neighbors in the North Country. His work uses documentary photography, portraiture, and oral history to show the very personal impact of world events on individuals.
Photojournalist Barry Goldstein has worked with 9/11 morgue workers, doctors in Honduras, soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, and covered multiple political conventions and presidential inaugurations.
He is the author of Being There. Medical Student Morgue Volunteers Following 9/11 (NYU Master Scholars Press, New York, 2004) and Gray Land: Soldiers on War (W.W. Norton and Co., New York, 2010. ) His coverage of the 2020 Presidential Inauguration received a 2022 Communicator Award for New England Public Media.
