Eamon O’Leary and Jefferson Hamer (The Murphy Beds) present traditional and original folk songs with close harmonies and deft instrumental arrangements on bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin. Steeped in music with Irish, Scottish and English roots, the two have played with artists across the folk spectrum and have released several solo albums. The New Yorker recently profiled Eamon and Jefferson, focusing on their hosting of traditional music “sessions” in New York City.
Eamon grew up in Dublin as a traditional Irish musician, and he maintains close ties with that scene, performing and recording with John Doyle, Nuala Kennedy, and others in The Immigrant Band. He has also taught in traditional music programs around the world.
Jefferson Hamer is based in Brooklyn and also plays with the roots rock ensemble Session Americana. His 2013 album, with Vermont singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell, Child Ballads, won the UK Folk Album of the Year.
